<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device capable of easily controlling a deploying timing acting on a front of an occupant without deteriorating a restraining performance of the occupant. <P>SOLUTION: This air bag device comprises a deployment restraining means temporarily restraining an air bag from being deployed in a first direction opposed to an occupant at the initial stage of deploying the air bag, and a restraint cancel means for canceling the restraints due to the deployment restraining means in conjunction with inflation of the air bag in a second direction different from the first direction. At the initial stage for deploying the air bag, deployment of the air bag in a direction perpendicular (opposite) to the occupant is temporarily restrained, and restraint of deployment toward the occupant is canceled in conjunction with the deployment in the other direction not opposed to the occupant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
