PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a leakage current from being generated even when a metallic frame is mounted on the back side of a flat fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: This fluorescent lamp unit is provided with a flat fluorescent lamp 2 having a light emission surface 2a on one surface side, and the metallic frame 3 disposed on the other surface side 2b of the flat fluorescent lamp 2. The flat fluorescent lamp 2 is provided with a first board 21 disposed on the light emission surface side, a second board 22 arranged oppositely to the first board so as to form a discharge space S between the first board 21 and itself, a first electrode 23 disposed on the first board 21 side, and a second electrode 24 disposed on the second board 22 side. The metallic frame 3 and the second electrode 24 are grounded and the fluorescent lamp unit emits light by discharge between the first electrode 23 and the second electrode 24 of the ground electrode.
