PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber ferrule that is hard to cause pistoning over time passage and therefore, highly reliable over a long period, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the optical fiber inserting hole 21, penetrating from the tip end to the rear end of the optical fiber ferrule body 20, there is inserted a coated optical fiber 10 having a plurality of coating layers, wherein the outer coating layer 13 is removed for a prescribed length from the tip end, in a state that leaves the inner coating layer 12. Thereafter, the coated optical fiber 10 is crimped, while holding in-between the part stripped of the outer coating layer 13 and the part left with it, and is then fixed to the optical fiber ferrule body 20, as the features of the manufacturing method.
