PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical deflector controlling apparatus for deciding optimum superimposing coefficients of respective frequency components from the maximum angular velocity, the minimum angular velocity and the frequency of a deflection scanning to make the angular velocity of the deflection scanning substantially constant. SOLUTION: The optical deflector controlling apparatus 51 has an arithmetic and logic unit which decides a target value of control of the maximum amplitude of a sine oscillation of a deflection and reflection face of an optical deflector 31 from the maximum and the minimum values of the angular velocity of the deflection scanning with a light beam which is deflected and scanned by the optical deflector 31 and one of different frequencies of sine oscillation.
