PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manage image files linked with a document.

SOLUTION: This markup document preparation apparatus is provided with: an image file insertion means for inserting a prescribed image file into a document described by a markup language; a new image file preparation means for preparing a new image file by transforming the image file whose insertion is specified by the image file insertion means into prescribed resolution; and a location information description means for describing location information for the image file whose insertion is specified by the image file insertion means and the new image file newly prepared by the new image file preparation means: and constituted so as to prepare files having respectively different resolution for display and printing in addition to the original image file in the case of inserting the image at the time of preparing a markup document; set the files so as to publish them by the HTTP server; and describe respective URLs in the markup document during preparation as one and the same image data source.
