<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic settlement system which secures security and reliability at the time when a user purchases an article using a mobile telephone set mounting a non-contact IC card means and a fingerprint checking means. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic settlement system is composed of a mobile telephone set mounting a non-contact IC card means and a fingerprint checking means, a non-contact IC card reader unit, and a fingerprint collecting unit connected to the non-contact IC card reader unit. A user collects fingerprint data by the fingerprint collecting unit and transmits it from the non-contact IC card reader unit to the mobile telephone set. The mobile telephone set checks collected fingerprint data with fingerprint data for checking stored beforehand by the fingerprint checking means, and transmits the checking result to the non-contact IC card reader unit.
