<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter for a liquid crystal display, which will not produce color unevenness or the like on the liquid crystal display by assembling a gap between substrates uniform without being influenced by uneven pressing, even if a photo-spacer with sufficient hardness is used and which will not produce color unevenness or the like even if a local load is present in using the liquid crystal display device, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The photo-spacer 25 is constructed with at least two layers, and a lower layer 25A has significant hardness. Hardness of an upper layer 25B is rather soft. The difference in the dynamic hardness between both layers is 5 or larger. The hardness of the lower layer is 35 dynamic hardness or larger.
