PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin-coated metal sheet for a container which ensures excellent takeout properties even with respect to low fat and high protein contents and has both of moldability and adhesion required in the processing of the container. SOLUTION: The resin-coated metal sheet has a metal sheet and a polyester resin layer formed at least on a side becoming an inner surface when the metal sheet is formed into the container and (1) the polyester resin layer formed on a side becoming the inner surface has an upper polyester resin layer coming into contact with the inner space of a can and a lower polyester resin layer coming into contact with the metal sheet, (2) the upper polyester resin layer contains 0.1-5 mass% of olefinic wax, (3) the upper polyester resin layer has the coefficient of planar orientation of above 0.06 to 0.15, and the lower polyester resin layer has the coefficient of planar orientation of 0.03 or below and (4) the upper polyester resin layer has a thickness of 0.5-10μm and the lower polyester resin layer has a thickness of 5-20μm.
