PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AV system and a recording medium reproducing method with which convenience for a user is improved when a recording medium in which files of contents of different kinds are recorded is reproduced. SOLUTION: A reproduction control part 102 generates virtual volume for each kind of contents such as audio and a picture, a file of a corresponding kind is included in the virtual volume corresponding to each kind out of files recorded in a mounted recording medium. Then, reproduction processing of the file is performed in units of the virtual volume. Also, file information is presented to a user for each virtual volume as file information of the recording medium, and selection of a reproduction file or the like is received on the presentation.
