PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a playback device and a playback method, in which the combination of a cell and the corresponding cell control information can be easily recognized, without performing the FIFO management by a stream separation part in a PE, by adding identification number to cell playback information (C_PBI) to perform packing and by embedding it into a stream. SOLUTION: There are provided: a first reading means for reading the cell playback information (C_PBI) from a management area of a recording medium, by the unit of one piece of object data; a packing means for performing the packing by providing the identification number to the cell playback information read by the reading means; a second reading means for reading the cell from a data area of the recording medium, by the unit of one piece of object data; a providing means for providing a cell playback information pack packed by the packing means to the head of each cell of the object data read by the second reading means; and a playback means for reproducing the information of each cell of the object data following the pack, using the cell playback information in the cell playback information pack.
