PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein operation stability when a small capacity of indoor unit is started and stopped is difficult to be secured, because a conventional air conditioner is constituted of a one heat source machine (main machine) provided with a capacity controllable compressor, and a heat source machine (sub-machine) provided with a compressor incapable of controlling its capacity or allowing only mechanical capacity control, and a problem wherein abrasion deterioration is accelerated in the main machine because the main machine is required to be started at first all the time. SOLUTION: In this air conditioner, a plurality of heat source machines provided with at least one capacity controllable compressor are connected to the plurality of indoor units, by the same refrigerant piping line, the plurality of indoor units are respectively correlated with combination with anyone of the plurality of heat source machines, and an operation control part is provided to increase a compressor capacity of the correlated heat source machine out of the plurality of heat source machines, when the indoor unit is started.
