PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a thickness of a metal plate forming a shell, thereby decrease a material cost and a weight and improve weldability of end plates and the shell and to enhance muffling effect, allow increase of durability and increase a freedom degree of an assembling structure. SOLUTION: The shell 1 is formed in double of an inner shell 11 and an outer shell 12. Thick wall parts 13 having almost the same thickness with the end plates 25, 26 are integrally connected to edges at both opening ends of the outer shell 12 by welding in a state that they protrude inward a silencer. The inner shell 11 is disposed inside of a step defined by inwardly protruding thick wall portions of the thick wall parts 13. The shell 1 is positioned inside of the end plates 25, 26 and the end plates 25, 26 are continuously welded P at their ends to outer peripheral surfaces of the thick wall parts 13 over entire circumferences. The edges at the both opening ends of the shell 1 and outer peripheral edges of the end plates 25, 26 are integrally joined without space therebetween. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
