PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master pushing device for a pipe jacking machine capable of starting even a leading body longer than a specified longitudinal space between a push stand in its pulled limit position and a start shaft. SOLUTION: The master pushing device for the pipe jacking machine is provided with the push stand B supported by a frame 1 movably in a longitudinal direction, and a jacking jack C for advancing the push stand B to impart a jacking force to the leading body and a buried pipe by mounting a rod to a reaction receiving member 2 and mounting the push stand B to a cylinder to extend. A cutout B2 for allowing a body of the leading body to be mounted from above is formed at the push stand B, and a pusher F having a pushing face moving forward following the push stand B to push the leading body from behind is provided so that the pushing face is located backward from the front face of the push stand B.
