PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor which is hardly erroneously operated even when a resolution control signal is adversely affected by external noise and with which resolution switching is realized. SOLUTION: The image sensor in which a plurality of photoelectric conversion devices comprising a plurality of light receiving elements are connected, has a resolution selection means for selecting resolution of the photoelectric conversion devices, providing a control means for changing the reading method of signals from the light receiving elements by resolution selected by the resolution selection means, and a shift register which drives reading and operations of the light receiving elements in each photoelectric device.
