PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretreating method capable of ensuring all of sharpness, color value and permeability even when applying ink jet printing to a fabric after pretreating. SOLUTION: The pretreating method comprises applying a padding step of immersing a fabric into a pretreating agent and a coating step of applying the pretreating agent to the surface of the fabric to the fabric each at least once.
