PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust and set a radial gap by simple means and method, and to enhance rigidity. SOLUTION: This grinding wheel spindle has a constitution in which a rotary shaft 2 for supporting a grindstone is supported on a main body sleeve 1 by air bearings 3A and 3B. The air bearings 3A and 3B are made a pair of bearings 3A and 3B having tapered bearing surfaces 3a. Tapered shafts 2a facing to each other across the radial gap are formed in the rotary shaft 2. The one bearing 3A is axially unmovably fixed to the main body sleeve 1, and the other bearing 3B is fixed to the main body sleeve 1 via a radial gap adjusting spacer 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
