PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus by which a coated product having uniform coating film thickness in the coating width direction and little coating failure can be obtained even when a coating solution is applied after a long period of time and in which a die coater having wide coating width of≥1 meter is used and to provide the die coater manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This coating apparatus comprises a pocket section for spreading the coating solution to the coating width direction, a coating solution supply port for supplying the coating solution to the pocket section, and a slit section for discharging the coating solution to the object to be coated from the pocket section, and uses the die coater in which at least two bars are incorporated. These bars are suspended while facing the end face of each of them upward, heat-treated in a heat treating furnace, and then ground. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
