A >=2-layered composite comprises (A) at least one tissue layer of DIN EN ISO air permeability >=700 l/m2>.s, EDANA 40.3 weight ca. 10-35 g/m2> and EDANA 20.2 dry tear strength >=8 N/50 mm in the machine direction; (B) at least one air-laid layer of melt-bonded fibers at >=3 g/m2> with fineness ca. 1-10 dtex; and (C) an adhesive of Tg >=-30[deg]C such that the tissue/air-laid layer interlayer bonding strength is >=0.2 N/50 mm. Independent claims are also included for production of the composite by either (1) unrolling a tissue onto a conveyor belt fitted with a sieving device, applying onto this a mixture of fibrillated pulp and melt-adhesive fibers and pressing the layers together; or (2) using a converter machine to adhesively bond tissue and air-laid layers which have been separately unrolled before lamination.
