<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely intercepts a laser beam when an opening/closing cover is opened, in order to attach or detach a process cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: When the opening/closing cover 50 is opened, the internal face 50A of the opening/closing cover 50 intercepts the optical path of a laser beam LB emitted from an optical scanning device 44, and the laser beam LB is prevented from leaking outside. Further, the direction to which the laser beam LB is reflected by the opening/closing cover 50 is opposite to the direction, to which the opening/closing cover 50 is opened.
