<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining an excellent image, by preventing "fogging" and "image stripes" from being generated in forming the image. <P>SOLUTION: At the time of developing operation, voltage is applied to a developer carrier and a developer-regulating member by a bias applying means so as to have nearly equal potential. At the time of non-developing operation between the developing operation time and the developing operation time performed continuously, a developing means is moved to a separate position from an image carrier, and the separating time of the developing means, when it is located at the separate position, is selected from a first separating time set longer and a second separating time set shorter than the first separating time, then the voltage is applied to the developer carrier and the developer-regulating member by the bias applying means so as to have potential with a potential difference at least in the first separating time set longer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
