PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a read signal with high image quality from which random noise is eliminated, in a simple configuration. SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus which uses a one-dimensional (1D) CCD 1 to read images, is provided with: a band-pass filter 23 (or high-pass filter) for extracting a noise component (a DC power supply noise component caused by a power supply ripple) superimposing on a read signal at random when reading an image; and a subtractor 25 for subtracting the noise component extracted by the band-pass filter 23 from the read signal of the 1D CDD 1.
