PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a program appropriate for viewing and to present it to a user among a plurality of programs recorded in a recording means. SOLUTION: This recording and reproducing device is provided with the recording means for recording the plurality of programs, a receiving means for receiving the program specified by the user, a reproduction means for reproducing and outputting the program reproduction of which is specified by the user from the recording means and a viewing recommendation means for presenting a program which has relation with a program under viewing at present and which is not viewed to the user as a viewing recommended program.
