A semiconductor laser device comprising a semiconductor laser chip (1) radiating a laser beam, stems (3, 4) for supporting the semiconductor laser chip (1), a plurality of terminal electrodes (7) inserted into through holes provided in the stems (3, 4) and supplying power to the semiconductor laser chip, and a cap (5) having an optical window (6) for transmitting the laser beam and being so bonded to the stems (3, 4) as to cover the semiconductor laser chip (1). An insulating glass (8) which does not discharge a silicon fluoride gas when heated at a temperature of 700-850°C is provided between the stems (3, 4) and the terminal electrodes (7).
