The spacer for locating between a pizza in a pizza box and the lid of the box is manufactured in one piece from a flat plate (PL1) and has at least one foot (F1-F3) which is insertable into the upper side of the pizza so that the spacer protrudes upwards in the direction of the lid, thereby acting as a stop to prevent the lid from lying on the pizza. At least one part of the plate is bent downwards from the plane of the plate to form the foot.
