摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording head of which the recording performance can be improved by increasing a recording frequency and recording density. SOLUTION: An upper magnetic layer 24 is constituted so as to have composition expressed by composition formula Fe<SB>W</SB>Co<SB>X</SB>Ni<SB>Y</SB>V<SB>Z</SB>(W, X, Y, Z indicate respectively atom % of iron (Fe), atom % of cobalt (Co), atom % of Nickel (Ni), and atom % of vanadium. W is approximately 60 to 85 atom%, X is approximately 10 to 30 atom%, Y is approximately 0 to 20 atom%, Z is approximately 0.1 to 3 atom%, and W+X+Y+Z=100.) As the magnetic layer has composition expressed by the above mentioned composition formula, saturation magnetic flux density Bs of the upper magnetic layer 24 is larger than approximately 1.9T, while specific resistanceρis larger than approximately 70μΩcm.
