PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life pulse X-ray source capable of ejecting X-rays of a stable ray volume and ray quality over a long period and only when necessary. SOLUTION: If an electromagnetic coil 3 for deflection of the X-ray tube 2 is energized, because an electron beam is incident on a refuge part F3 on a hood electrode F in a defocus state, emission of the X-rays is suspended. On the other hand, if the electromagnetic coil 3 for deflection is not energized, because the electron beam is incident on an X-ray emission face T4 of a target plate T1, emission of the X-rays is started. Here, because an energized state and a non-energized state of the electromagnetic coil 3 for deflection do not affect a tube voltage and a tube electric current of the X-ray tube 2, the X-ray tube 2 stably emits the X-rays of desired dose and quality. Furthermore, because of energization of the electromagnetic coil 3 for deflection, and because the electron beam is incident on the refuge part F3 of the hood electrode F in the defocus state, damage of the hood electrode F is suppressed.
