PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a projector with which optical components such as a cross dichroic prism and a liquid crystal panel are easily and accurately positioned and fixed in a projector or the like and an optical device is inexpensively manufactured, and a projector manufactured by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The invention is the manufacturing method for the projector where the optical device is formed in a state where an optical modulator is positioned and fixed with respect to a color composing optical device in advance, the optical device is set to a projection optical device installed in a housing for an optical component, and luminous flux and image information are introduced from the optical modulator constituting the optical device, and an optical image obtained by enlarging and projecting an optical image from the projection optical device through the color composing optical device is used to position and adjust the optical device with respect to the projection optical device, then the optical device is positioned and fixed on a fixed plate disposed in the housing.
