PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of generating the image signal with reduced noise in a short time, and also capable of accurately removing noises. SOLUTION: When NR imaging mode is selected, the electric charge corresponding to a field image is generated at a light receiving element in an actual exposure period during which entering of light to a CCD imager 16 is allowed. The electric charge corresponding to a black image (light shielded image) is generated at the light receiving element in the actual exposure time during which entering of light to the CCD imager 16 is prohibited. The image data of a single frame from which fixed pattern noise is removed are generated based on the electric charges corresponding to the black image and the field image. A CPU30 sets the CCD imager 16 to be the state where dark current is hard to occur during a first actual exposure period, and sets the CCD imager 16 to be the state where dark current is easy to occur during a second actual exposure period.
