PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor device capable of directly and accurately converting a difference of circularly polarized light states into a current or a voltage (a physical value), and a circularly polarized light detector composed by using the device. SOLUTION: The circularly polarized light directly detecting semiconductor device is characterized by that a g-factor is provided with a p-n junction composed of a semiconductor satisfying an expression 1, or it is provided with a p-n junction or a p-i-n junction composed of a semiconductor satisfying an expression 2. The expression 1 is ¾g<SB>x</SB>¾<¾g<SB>y</SB>¾ g<SB>x</SB>≈0, wherein g<SB>x</SB>is a g-factor of a light receiving semiconductor, and g<SB>y</SB>is a g-factor of another semiconductor. The expression 2 is ¾g<SB>xm</SB>¾>¾g<SB>z</SB>¾, wherein gxm is a g-factor of a light receiving magnetic semiconductor, and g<SB>z</SB>is a g-factor of another semiconductor.
