<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorization apparatus for outstandingly mitigating combined odor such as garbage treatment odor at a low cost using a photocatalyst, and a deodorization method. <P>SOLUTION: The deodorization apparatus comprises a casing (2) provided with a suction port (3) and an exhaust port (4) at both ends; a light source (6) arranged in the casing (2) so as to become parallel to a ventilation direction; a photocatalyst carrier (5) arranged so as to surround the light source; a fan (7) for blowing bad odor air into the casing. The fan (7) ventilates the bad odor air such that V/S (m/hr) becomes 5,000 to 80,000 when an area of a surface of the photocatalyst carrier (5) directly irradiated with a light from the light source (6) is made to be S (m<SP>2</SP>) and an amount for converting a ventilation volume per one hour of the bad odor air passing through the deodorization apparatus to the standard state is made to be V (m<SP>3</SP>/hr). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
