PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the channel search time in a digital television broadcast receiver. SOLUTION: Upon input of a received signal from an antenna 5, a tuner 11 outputs a signal designed by a controller 30 to a mode/guard ratio search circuit 12. The mode/guard ratio search circuit 12 detects the mode and the guard interval ratio of a digital broadcast signal based on the ISDB-T standards, and outputs a signal to a carrier/timing search circuit 13 which then detects the frequency deviation and the clock error. Thus, the mode or the guard interval ratio is detected to make the channel detection. Or otherwise the frequency deviation of the clock error is detected to make the channel detection.
