PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning/exploring method for securely cleaning/exploring a predetermined water area by a diver and a cleaning/exploring device used for the purpose. SOLUTION: An anchor member 10 immovably placed on a water bottom B and a buoy member 20 floating on a water surface right above the anchor member are connected by a rope 30 with its length adjustable according to the water depth. One end of a freely extensible lead scale 50 is connected to the anchor member 10 to be able to freely rotate in the horizontal direction while the other end part is connected to the diver D. While periodically extending or shortening the lead scale 50, the diver goes around the anchor member 10 and collects garbages or searches for fallen objects on the water bottom B.
