An apparatus 1 for producing a food with a low deuterium concentration having a greenhouse 2 constructed so as to isolate the inner atmosphere from the outer atmosphere, a food-holding member 5 being located in the greenhouse and holding a food 4 such as a plant (for example, tomato), and a unit 7 for supplying low-deuterium water for supplying low-deuterium water 6, which has a deuterium concentration of 80ppm (ULW80) or less, to the food held on the food-holding member. Owing to this constitution, the plant 4 or the like can be produced in an atmosphere completely isolated from the outer atmosphere with the use of the low-deuterium water 6 which has a deuterium concentration of 80ppm or less.
