u The device has an elevator measuring instrument (16), which measures the height of a load fork (10) of a stacker. A video camera (26) for the load fork is provided. Control equipment for the manipulation of the load fork on which signals are provided to the elevator measuring instrument and the video camera which contain the vertical lift preselection and a video menu. A screen (24) is provided for the operator of the stacker, and connected with the control device. A preselection unit for the vertical lift preselection of the load fork (10) is connected with the control equipment which drives the control equipment automatically on the preselected height and causes an announcement on the screen. The control equipment on the video menu switches the signal of the video camera to the screen, if the load fork is in close range of the given height of the load fork.
