A layer abrasive agent (10) is bonded to tensile wires (6) having a specific radius of curvature to diameter ratio. A sawing cable comprises a tensile cable (12) with numerous tensile wires (6) and an abrasive agent (10) bonded to it. The majority of the outermost wires have a radius of curvature which is greater than half the average diameter of the wire. The abrasive agent is in the form of a layer deposited on the outermost wires where the radius of curvature is greater than half the average wire diameter.
