<p>An exercise machine has a platform 6 for supporting the back of a user when lying down to operate freely-turning pedals 2,3 mounted on an upstanding column 4 at the lower end of an inclined track 1. The platform 6 is carried by flanged wheels 16 that run on rails 7 of the track 1 for movement up and down the track 1 as pedalling progresses. Movement of the platform 6 up the track 1 is opposed by elastic cords that add to the load imposed on the user's knees during the upward movement. A slotted board (21, figure 7) provides an alternative, inclined track for rollers (23) of a platform (22) that is guided by spindles (26) running in slots (25) of the board (21).</p> |
