The torch has a cylindrical body with a lamp at one end and a fountain-pen-type clip (18) at the other end. The clip has a broad end portion (22,24) with tags (30) and a contact piece (60,61) engaging a plug (66) fitting in the end of the housing. The plug has a coil spring (50). A cap (68) fits over the end of the plug and holds the clip in place. The free end of the springy clip (20) may touch a contact projection (110) connected (108) to a conductor strip (64) on the inside surface of the housing. The conductor strip is connected to the lamp.
