N-biphenyl thiazole-5-carboxamide derivatives (I) are new. N-biphenyl thiazole-5-carboxamide derivatives of formula (I) are new. R1-R5 = hydrogen, halo, cyano, nitro, 1-6C alkyl, 2-6C alkenyl, 1-4C haloalkyl, (halo)alkoxy, (halo)alkylthio or (halo)alkylsulfonyl (with 1-5 halo), or 3-6C cycloalkyl, or R1 and R2, or R2 and R3, are together alkenylene, optionally substituted by halo or 1-6C alkyl; R6 = 1-8C alkyl, 1-6C alkylsulfinyl or alkylsulfonyl, 1-4C alkoxy(1-4C)alkyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl, 1-6C haloalkyl, haloalkylS(O)n, halo1-4C alkoxy(1-4C)alkyl or halo(3-8C)cycloalkyl (each with 1-9 fluoro, chloro and/or bromo), COR7, CONR8R9 or CH2NR10R11; n = 0-2; R7 = hydrogen, 1-8C alkyl or alkoxy, 1-4C alkoxy(1-4C)alkyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl, 1-6C haloalkyl or haloalkoxy, halo1-4C alkoxy(1-4C)alkyl, halo(3-8C)cycloalkyl (each with 1-9 fluoro, chloro and/or bromo), or 4-(difluoromethyl)-2-methyl-1,3-thiazol-2-yl; R8 and R9 = hydrogen, 1-8C (halo)alkyl, (halo)1-4C alkoxy(1-4C)alkyl or 3-8C (halo)cycloalkyl (each with 1-9 fluoro, chloro and/or bromo), or together with the nitrogen they complete a 5-8 membered heterocycle, optionally substituted one or more times by halo and/or 1-4C alkyl and optionally containing 1 or 2 additional non-adjacent heteroatoms (oxygen, sulfur or NR12); R10 and R11 = hydrogen, 1-8C (halo)alkyl or 3-8C (halo)cycloalkyl (each with 1-9 fluoro, chloro and/or bromo), or together complete a heterocycle as defined for R8 and R9; R12 = hydrogen or 1-6C alkyl.
