The device has a tray (10) threaded across an access opening (6) of a case (5) of a printer to arrange a sheet material guiding path on both sides of the opening. The tray cooperates with a pusher (2) movable axially in the path from an outer position to a lower position of the case to act on a sheet material pre-positioned on the tray for bringing the material in a predetermined stop position related to a printing starting position.
