The present invention relates to a method for heating glass panels (4) in a heating oven (1), wherein the glass panel (4) is supported on top of rolls (4). The glass panel (4) is heated from above and below with convection air (A) or with a combination of the convection air (A) and radiation heat. The convection air (A) is heated by electric resistances (7, 8) and/or a combustible gas. The hearing of convection air (A) is effected by using a heat accumulator. In addition, the invention relates to an apparatus for applying the method.
