PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information terminal for protecting personal information on the occurrence of theft and missing or the like, with contrivance which can be easily realized. SOLUTION: The information terminal includes: a personal information storage means 17a for storing personal information of a possessor; a read request detection means 11a for detecting occurrence of a read request of the personal information from the outside of the terminal main body; a personal information read means 11b for reading the personal information from the personal information storage means 17a in accordance with the detection; and a personal information output means 11c for outputting the read personal information for reference. The information terminal is furthermore provided with: a protection information storage means 17b for storing protection information denoting a protection state for protecting the personal information stored in the personal information storage means 17a or a non-protection state not protecting the personal information; and a change means 11d for changing the protection information of the stored information storage means 17b in accordance with the instruction of the possessor. The personal information read means 11b inhibits reading of the personal information when the protection information of the stored information storage means 17b indicates the protection state at the detection of the read request by the read request detection means 11a.
