PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data display device capable of improving screen display quality and reducing a memory for a frame buffer and a method for updating display data. SOLUTION: The data display device 1 is equipped with a display device 2, the frame buffer 3 which holds display data 30 for displaying one screen 20 of the display device 2, and a data generating means of dividing the display data 30 into a plurality of 1st partial data 31 and 2nd partial data 32 and updating those 1st partial data 31 and 2nd partial data 32 respectively in different timing. The data generating means is equipped with a compressed image data generation part 5 which compresses the image data and a decoder 4 which decodes the compressed image data.
