摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration or damage of a catalyst by not making catalyst temperature high at a time of fuel cut of a misfire cylinder of a multi-cylinder engine. SOLUTION: In the misfire detection device for the multi-cylinder engine provided with a misfire detection means capable of detecting misfire of each cylinder of the multi-cylinder engine and a fuel cut means executing fuel cut of a cylinder in which misfire is detected by the misfire detection means, a damage determination means determining whether the catalyst of the multi-cylinder engine is damaged by misfire or not and a limiting means limiting operation of a injection quantity control means increasing and decreasing fuel injection quantity according to a value of an oxygen sensor of the multi-cylinder engine are provided. If the damage determination means determines that the catalyst is damaged, fuel cut of the cylinder in which misfire is detected is executed by the fuel cut means and operation of the injection quantity control means is limited by the control means to prohibit fuel increase control of a cylinder for which fuel cut is not executed.
