PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, in a method for compressing powder where powder is compressed into a planar forming using two rolls each comprising a columnar face having a length with dimensions also same as the width of the planar forming, the sides of the planar forming are not compressed into a required state having prescribed density. SOLUTION: The two rolls comprise a columnar face having a length with dimensions almost same as the width of a planar forming, and a groove formed at the columnar face so as to elongate to the circumferential direction, whose sides form almost 90 degrees with the bottom and which has a width as long as possible, and are further arranged rotatably so as to be relatively confronted with intervals at which powder can be subjected to compression forming into the planar forming with a prescribed thickness.
