MAGNETOSTRICTIVE ELEMENT, MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF, AND SENSOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a magnetostrictive element capable of improving the flatness of the surface of the magnetostrictive element and its detection precision.

SOLUTION: In manufacturing a magnetostrictive element 10 that comprises on its surface a coating layer 15 formed of epoxy resin or the like, the epoxy resin is jetted to the surface of the magnetostrictive element 10, and then pressed under prescribed pressure for a prescribed period while being heated to flatten the coating layer 15. Thus, a variation in magnetic permeability which is detected when the magnetostrictive element 10 is applied with pressure becomes small.
