<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device capable of improving light utilization efficiency by using a solid luminescent element of three color luminescence such as red, green and blue as a light source, and of providing light source light having high luminance uniformity and chromaticity uniformity; and to provide a display device capable of providing a high-luminance display image having high color repeatability and a high response speed. <P>SOLUTION: This backlight device is composed of a reflector REF having a light reflecting surface on a surface thereof, a plurality of light guide bodies GLB installed on the light reflecting surface of the reflector REF by equalizing the distribution of them and each formed of a translucent cylindrical body; the light emitting diodes LEDR, LEDG and LEDB installed in the light guide bodies GLB and having three-color luminescence such as red, green and blue, whereby white light having a uniform luminous flux distribution and high chromaticity uniformity can be provided by executing color mixing for every light guide body block GLBB. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
