PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine in which the cost reduction and simplification of a configuration are attained by establishing simulated voice system facsimile communication while connecting the machine to a LAN without the need for using an IP telephone terminal. SOLUTION: A simulated voice system facsimile communication unit comprising: a TCP/UDP/IP control section 25 which controls an IP protocol and a TCP/U protocol; a real-time transfer control section 22 which controls a real-time transfer protocol; a voice encoding and decoding section 21 which encodes and decodes a voice signal; a MODEM 20 which modulates and demodulates a facsimile signal assumed to be a voice signal; a T30 control section 19A which controls a T.30 facsimile protocol; and a communication image processing section 18A which conducts the image processing of communication image data, performs real-time facsimile communication with a conventional facsimile machine over an IP network 40 while connecting to a LAN 30 via a network I/F 26.
