PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce variations of an exothermic characteristic between heater chips and to easily grasp an appropriate timing for renewal of the heater chip in which the exothermic characteristic varies over time. SOLUTION: The heater chip is provided with a heat welding part 2 which generates heat by an energization resistance at the distal end side of a small plate-shaped main body 1, an energizing terminal 1a on both sides of a gap (a) formed in a cut condition from a middle on a proximal end side, and a temperature sensor 3 for detecting a temperature in the heat displacing part 2. Also, an auxiliary temperature sensor 6 is provided in the vicinity of the temperature sensor 3. A degree in which a location near the heat welding part 2 which is strongly heated is gradually oxidized, and a temperature distribution of the main body 1 varies over time, is detected from the changeover time of a difference in detection temperatures between the temperature sensor and the auxiliary temperature sensor. An aging level of the heater chip is detected based on the above level, and a temperature of a feeding wiring connected to the heater chip is also controlled. A region between the energizing terminal and a location separated at a predetermined distance from the heat welding part is formed as a thickness dimension adjustment region 1b for the heater chip.
