PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Rankine cycle device provided with a rotary expansion machine and capable of making the number of rotation of the expansion machine constant. SOLUTION: In this Rankine cycle device 1, a pump 2, a boiler 3, the expansion machine 4, and a capacitor 5 are provided, and hydrofluorocarbon R134a being working fluid is circulated. The expansion machine 4 and a generator 6 are mutually connected through a continuously variable transmission 9. The number of rotation of the expansion machine 4 is changed by the continuously variable transmission 9 in which a gear ratio is adjusted based on suction pressure and delivery pressure of the expansion machine 4 and is transmitted to the generator 6.
