PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a half insertion state in the case of mounting an embroidery frame on the connection receiving part of a carriage connected to the driving mechanism of an embroidery sewing machine and to prevent sewing deviations. SOLUTION: The embroidery frame mounting mechanism of the embroidery sewing machine is provided with the connection receiving parts 48 and 49 formed on an X direction carriage 40 for moving the embroidery frame for detachably mounting the connection engaging part of the embroidery frame and lock mechanisms 46 and 47 for locking the connection engaging part in the state of mounting the connection engaging part of the embroidery frame on the connection receiving parts 48 and 49, and the state that the lock mechanisms 46 and 7 lock the connection engaging part to the connection receiving parts 48 and 49 is detected by a lock state detection switch 71. The respective lock mechanisms 46 and 47 are provided with lock members 54b and 64b for locking the connection engaging part, coil springs 56 and 66 for elastically energizing the lock members 54b and 64b to a lock position, and operation levers 54c and 64c integrally formed on the lock members 54b and 64b for operating the lock members 54b and 64b from the lock position to an unlock position.
